Travel Days – January 19-21, 2026

Greetings. This trip we are heading to Cape Coral, Florida. We left Panora at 5:30 am with the camper packed. It was 1 degree outside so definitely ready for warmer climate. We drove around 600 miles and spent the night at a Loves RV stop in Dyersburg, TN. We had no troubles driving. However, the low for tonight is predicted to be 17 so we are not de-winterizing the camper. After getting settled in, we ate a local restaurant called the Blacksmith.

Back at the camper, it was all warmed up and we took it easy. 

Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Day 2

We left Dyersberg,TN around 7 this morning. We are taking a route that avoids driving through Atlanta, staying in Cordele, Georgia. States we drove thru include Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and then Georgia.  We avoided many interstates and drove along state highways.  

If you are looking for investment options, might I suggest Dollar General. As in Iowa, these stores seem to be thriving in the south. Along our drive, we saw at least 25-30 store fronts. We again stayed in a Love’s RV stop.  This one was an actual campground with 35 campsites.  It was a gated campground and we had a full hook up.  We were able to de-winterize the camper, wash the dishes, clean off the counters and take a shower!

Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Day 3

We left Cordele around 7 am and made our way to Cape Coral around 2:30! We are staying at an Encore property called Tranquility Lake.  It’s a beautiful resort with sites around a lake.  Amenities include a beautiful pool, hot tubs, walking/biking path around the lake, pickle ball courts and a nice fitness center.  We were excited to see Bill and Deb McDermott and catch up. We really appreciated being ahead of some extremely bad weather patterns going on across much of the US.
