We left Paris on October 3 and made our way to Germfask, MI. On our way we stopped in Mackinac City and rode the ferry over to Mackinac Island. We ate lunch in an Irish pub and rode bikes around the island, which was quite scenic.

First glimpse of the bridge:

On the ferry, looking at the island:

At the Irish Pub, our waitress was actually from Dublin.

Mackinac Island

The island allows no motorized vehicles and the main road that goes around the island is 8 miles. There are some private homes, which are pristine and everything was very clean.

The Grand Hotel

It was a little chilly and windy on the way back to Mackinac City.

Going over the bridge to the upper peninsula.

We stayed at the Big Cedar Campground in Germfask. (Rate it another 3 out of 5).

On Friday, October 4th, we drove to Tahquamenon Falls State Park. It was one of the nicest state parks I’ve ever been in. We hiked from the Upper Falls to Lower Falls (8 or so miles round trip). It was beautiful, but had to watching our path as it was along tree roots.

To finish our day, we checked out a winery in the area: End of the Road Winery.
