Before we left for the trip, Dave upgraded the mattress with one from our spare beds in the house. Needless to say, Dave and I slept like rocks in this wonderful mountain air and thicker mattress. We putzed around the camper for a bit and left for Grotto Falls trail around 9:30 a.m. After 2 hours of fighting traffic in the national park and not finding a place to park, we left to find another trail. There are many, many tourists here. We vowed that we’ll get going earlier tomorrow morning. 🙂
We found another area of the national park and were able to hike to Laurel Falls. It was lovely! (2.75 miles round trip)

We found and loved a little general store outside of Gatlinburg and near the campground. The kid that owned it and is getting it going said his grand dad used to run so he is trying to keep the ‘vintage’ look.

After we came back to the campground, I took a little walk to check things out while Dave soaked his feet and ankles in ice water. (Just kidding) He started the campfire.
This is right outside our campsite.

We had some chili for dinner this evening and now enjoying the fire and sounds of nature. Dave says ‘peace out.’
