October 18th

Wow, what a fabulously beautiful day!

Dave and I got up early and followed the expert advice to go to parks early in the day. We were able to go to the Grotto Trail and check out the waterfall and then walk behind it. We got on the trail about 8:30 a.m. (left the campsite around 7:30) and it was 40 degrees, but no wind. (Round trip for the hike was: 3.2 miles)

Then, we left that area of the park and headed to an entrance near our campground – Greenbrier area. We experienced two trails and loved everything. (Round trip for the hike was: 3.75 miles) 60 degrees

One of the cool things I noticed today was that there were quite a few families and all the parents were patient with their kids and teaching them to respect nature and appreciate that we have these type of parks and places to appreciate and visit in our country.

Dave says his feet hurt, but he actually loved it today as well! We’re grilling a pork chop and various side dishes for dinner. Dave is getting fire going; it is cool, but so beautiful.

Have a good evening everyone.

  1. Beautiful pictures!!!! Love hearing about your experiences! Thanks for sharing details of the trails! Bill wants to know if you’ve seen any bears yet? It looks like bear country.

HI Bill and Deb, we have seen quite a few carved bears from logs, but that’s it so far. We may do Cades Cove tomorrow, but it’s supposed to rain. That is one of the places people see them.
