Day in western Connecticut

It is very wet here and has rained through the night or early morning. However, we have had no problem during the day. We met a few locals that gave us some advice, some of it good, some of it not so good.

Mohawk State Park is outside of Cornwall and Goshen. We started on a trail, and ran into a woman who gave us a tip and we enjoyed the hike, here is an interested, not edible mushroom. Kinda pretty, but definitely give you gastronomical issues if ate.

We then went to the Cunningham Tower, built in 1915. It served as a private lookout or retreat. It was kinda cool as it had two fireplaces, red tile flooring. Mr Cunningham donated the property to the state in 1921.

Next, the park suggests checking out the Black Spruce Bog, this was super boring. Here is Bill in the bog squishing.

Based on the advice of a local, we tried an old road/trail that would lead to a pond and old youth camp. This was a flop for us, Bill thought he would drive us on the road as the gentlemen said it would lead us out of the park, this too was a flop as it was very, rough and bumpy and no views. 😊 but we had a good chuckle about trying something unknown.

We ate at a local pizza joint and then headed to the Sunset Meadow Vineyards. It was a nice winery, has won a National level wine contest, and enjoyable to sit outside.
